Get the Look – Winter Garden

For this theme, I wanted to create a Winter Wonderland look that was soft and dreamy. I was inspired by meadows and gardens, but was challenged on how to bring something traditionally more of a Springtime look into the home for the Holidays. I did it by starting with the color palette- whites, grey and gorgeous metallics to set the tone for a festive look, with just hints of color like soft pink, purple and mint.

Suddenly the florals in this palette felt more elegant and dreamy, like they had been preserved by the winter snow:

To keep the look from being too sweet, I pictured the garden in the twilight, surrounded above by stars and the moon. Perhaps there were owls flying overhead, and creatures and bears and wolves running below. Material choices (for example textured linens and nubby felt) and finishing techniques (like raw edges) kept the product gentle but not too perfect.

Lastly to create interest and tension, I added a layer of mystique by incorporating gemstones and other delicate details into the collection:
