Mad Science Kids Game
Post written by Paging Supermom
Your kids will get a kick out of this Pop-Up MAD LABORATORY kids game for Halloween.
In this game, kids try to guess the contents of several spooky specimens jars. This Laboratory is surprisingly easy to construct using free printables. It all begins with a Mad Laboratory Backdrop. You can print this is a black-and-white, engineering print at a local copy center for less than $10. Download, print and tape into place. Add inexpensive test tubes filled with a mysterious, green potion (just neon food coloring + water) to bring the lab to life.
Recycle jars, spray-painted black are used to hold the specimens. Download and print the Mad Lab Specimen Jar Labels.
TO PLAY: Fill the prepared jars with items recommended below, feel free to substitute. Have your Mad Scientists take turns reaching in to feel each jar’s contents, trying to determine what each specimen really is. Have them record their findings on the Mad Lab Experiment Forms.
For younger kids that may not be able to identify the specimens by touch, have them describe each one with words like “slimey” or “squishy” etc. The labels and jars could also be used to hold spooky treats on a Halloween Party food table.

Paging Supermom is written by “Sometimes Supermoms” Aimée and Bettijo, and came to be after many discussions with each other sharing their best insights on homemaking, parenting, party planning, teaching, playing and sometimes simply surviving. They soon discovered that although they can’t claim to be super all the time, each had their own moments. By sharing successes (and some of the funny moments when they fell flat on their faces), they hope to inspire others to find their inner superhero a little more often.
