Pure and simple. Clean Asian shapes have a thin, elegant feel and sophisticated color palette of subtle celadon and matte black. Porcelain is fired at a very high temperature, with the cooling process creating the beautiful crackling of the glossy glaze. This traditional artistic effect is food safe, though it may discolor when exposed to foods that can potentially stain until it is cleaned in an automatic dishwasher.

Artists and Designers

United States

Working in a studio located on a narrow strip of land surrounded by Lake Michigan, designer Kathleen Wills bears witness to the ways in which wind, water and the forces of nature change and mute colors. In Europe, where she and her husband spend part of the year, she finds the experience entirely different. These contrasts are essential to the way in which Wills approaches her designs, which she describes as clean and modern with historic references and subtle details.

A graduate of the University of Michigan with a degree in industrial design, Wills continued her studies, learning furniture design at the London College of Furniture and graphic design at the Kent Summer School in Switzerland. She worked as a senior designer for a number of international design firms before establishing her private design studio, specializing in product, graphic and interior design.

Kita Serving Bowl is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 113.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from After 7 years I still get compliments I've owned these dishes for 7 years and they do still look fantastic and hold up well, even with daily use and washing them in a dishwasher. I've never seen them chip and I love how they can be casual or elegant. They make a table look beautiful and sophisticated. I always get compliments on them!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from From day to night ware! I have had this set for over 3 years and I live how it can go from casual to dinner party. I have not experienced any issues with quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from beautiful dishes I bought these dishes a year ago and everyday admire their beauty. They are simply elegant and can easily be used for special occasions and holiday tables. After a year none of them are chipped.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful dishes I got these dishes from my wedding registry a few years ago. They look simple and beautiful. The cracked finish is a nice look that makes them more interesting than other solid color dish sets. I just wish the handle for the mug was a little bit larger so it would be easier to hold.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful, but a little fragile I have the whole set of kita dinnerware. I love the simple and modern design, but a couple of the plates have cracked or chipped from daily use and putting them in the dishwasher. You need to be a little careful when handling this dinnerware.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Almost 4 years, still love this set After four years of daily use, this set still looks great. One of the dinner plates has chipped, but again -after four years of daily use, I'm pleasantly surprised that this is the only issue. I love that this set is durable enough for everyday, but elegant enough for special occasions. I "dress it up" by mixing it with the black Murano glass bowls and salad plates.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from TImeless I love this dinnerware set. It definitely timeless, but modern. The off-white color goes with any table decoration, runner, and season and has a faint cackle pattern on it that makes them unique. They are durable and washable. I've been extremely happy with them and would buy them over and over again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Practical yet elegant Love this dinnerware. It's simple enough to be used every day yet makes for an elegant table. I'm a fan!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No problems We registered for this dining set for our wedding, and I was nervous about the durability after reading reviews. We've been using the plates and bowls daily for about 6 months, running them through the dishwasher, and having had any chips or damage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful everyday dinnerware My husband and I received these dishes as part of our C&B wedding registry, and we absolutely love them. They're classically beautiful, but in a slightly modern way. They feel very high-quality -- but aren't so fancy that you avoid bringing them out for everyday use. I would definitely recommend the whole set.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from CRACKED Although these plates and bowls are simply beautiful, they arrived with one cracked and continued to break periodically. Half of them were broken within a year.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Kita Very elegant and simple

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Still Beautiful After 9 Years We've had these dishes nine years, and they're still beautiful. The plates and bowls are our everyday-use dishes. We haven't had staining in those, but some of our mugs/cups have coffee/tea stains. (We don't use them as often, so it doesn't bother me.) And we've had a few pieces break over the years, but those were unique circumstances. We lost a couple plates/bowls during a move (but they'd survived four other moves), and a bowl broke once in the dishwasher - not sure why. Even after all these years, we still like their simple, classic design and are planning to buy more to increase our set.
