As other reviews said, this lamp is sturdy, well-built, and produces a beautiful soft light. it's a bit tricky to extend the arm at first, but that's not a big deal. definitely recommend!

Great purchase
This floor lamp is awsome ! Modern, simple and very chic. It gives a soft light but bright enough to be able to read without difficulty. Love that the bulb is hidden when sitting beneath. This lamp that can easily fit in many room style means not just comtemporary and is very robust.

Love it!
I needed a big lamp to go with the beautiful sectional couch I bought from Crate and Barrel earlier this year. I saw the Meryl Floor Lamp in a catalogue and ordered it. I was worried that it would be too big but it is PERFECT! Love the fact that the bulb is dimmable and it really blends well with my big sectional couch. Very well made, sturdy marble base -- quite heavy, no worries that this lamp will topple over!

Beautiful Lamp
This is a beautiful lamp and looks so much more expensive. Was a little tedious to assemble with the spanner, but once done, was well worth it. The shade looks white in the daylight but at night when the lamp is switched on it looks beige or lemon yellow and gives a soft diffused light which softly lights up our huge family room.

provides a lot of light
My style is more traditional than contemporary, but this modern-style lamp has been a blessing living in an apartment with no overhead lighting in the living room. When I turn it on the room is instantly several times brighter than if I only used table lamps. While the style is not my ideal, this was the best lamp of this type I found anywhere, and I do appreciate the look of the two-tiered screen covering the bulbs and the marble base.

Stunning
The shade on this lamp is unusual and the light is soft and diffuse. The base is nice and solid and the curve of the lamp is really attractive. I liked it so much I bought another! (balances my room).

Great value
Robust and stylish floor lamp perfect for use behind a sofa. It's easily assembled but best accomplished with a helper. Only niggle - the spanner supplied for tightening the crucial base nut is tricky to use. But once it's up and switched on, it looks great, and the dimmer works nicely. For the price you can't do better.

EXCELLENT BUY
Sleek. Well designed. Beautiful. Well made. Similar to the look of the Arco at a price I can afford. I actually like the shade more than the arco. Wish it wasn't made in China but that is probably why I can afford it.

I bought this lamp to use in my living room, which is in an old brownstone with very tall ceilings. It provides a great modern touch to contrast with the apartment's traditional features. I would caution folks that you do need two people to put it together. Installing the lightbulb, the metal ring and the lamp share by yourself is a bit challenging. In fact, just getting it out of the box by yourself is a project.

Great lamp!
We bought a similiar, less expensive lamp at another retailer. It shorted out and nearly caught fire. We decided to try this one. Within minutes of opening the box, my husband said, "This is SUCH a better lamp!" It looks great and is exactly what we needed for our modern living room.

Looks fab
This lamp looks very stylish in my modern apartment. Just what I wanted and always gets admired by visitors. Looks much more expensive than it is.

Broke in 1,5 year
The marble support broke in half in less than two years of use. We never changed the location of the lamp. I guess the weight of the lamp is a lot heavier than the marble can support.
Please improve the quality of the material, as this is a very beatiful lamp, which I was quite happy about.

Meryl Floor Lamp
Love this lamp. It was a bit of a challenge putting it together by myself ... would be a piece of cake with 2 people. Looks fabulous in my living room over my sectional. My only gripe is that the shade was a bit damaged in a couple of places. This is the second lamp I've purchased from the Crate & Barrel web site, and I had the same problem with the first purchase ... damaged lamp shade.

Great Ambiance
This floor lamp brings comfortable overhead light to any dim corner or open floor plan. The design is versatile and works with contemporary or traditional decor. The only downfall is that the maximum wattage is not quite enough.
