Patio Furniture - Outdoor Seating and Dining
Whether outdoor entertaining is the highlight of your spring and summer or your idea of entertaining is relaxing and reading a book outside, patio furniture is a must. Make the most of your backyard space with durable tables, chairs, ottomans and barstools without sacrificing style.
For ultimate comfort, consider adding weather- and mildew-resistant Sunbrella cushions to outdoor benches, patio chairs and bar stools. Not only do they add a plush extra layer of cushioning and help further protect furnishings, they also add a vibrant pop of color to your deck of patio furniture. Their durability will provide years of supportive cushioning. For long lasting patio furniture we always recommend to use some furniture cover.

Want to host a barbecue garden party for friends and neighbors? You definitely need many patio furniture for seating with lots of pillows, a big table, chairs, stools and of course a long bench.
Accessories like planters, rugs, lantern and lightning will make your deck comfortable.
Design Idea: Relaxing
Relaxing in the evening and on weekends. There is no better place as right outside your house in your garden. You definitely need a hammock. Also add some poufs, lounge sets and a chaise lounge to your patio furniture to add some extra style and be ready for guests.
Don't forget some sun protecting patio umbrellas as you don't want to fall asleep and wake up with a sunburn.
Which material should I select for my outdoor furniture?
When it comes to outdoor furniture, easy care and portability are two qualities that add to the enjoyment of being outdoors. When developing outdoor furniture, Crate and Barrel uses materials that combine great looks and style with functionality and performance. Learn about the durable materials from which our outdoor furniture is constructed.
Resin wicker is one of the most popular materials in the outdoor industry because it is lightweight and able to withstand almost any weather condition. The strands are made of polyethylene mixed with color pigments and other additives to create a material that will resist UV rays and not fade over time. It's virtually care-free and can easily be hosed down. Compared to rattan wicker, resin wicker is also very durable and will not split, rot or fray. Best of all, it is 100% recyclable, making it eco-friendly.
Aluminum is a perfect material for outdoor furniture. It's light and durable, which makes it easy to move around. Additionally, it will not rust, so it is able to withstand the elements year after year. Aluminum is extruded, meaning it is formed in a mold and shaped into tubes, bars and slats. It is then bent into arms and legs and welded together. Once the furniture frame is complete, a powdercoat finish is applied for color and protection. All of our metal outdoor furniture is recyclable.
Commercial grade stainless steel is used to create the frames for our modern Dune collection. Although rust resistant, stainless steel is not rust proof and the metal will need some upkeep, especially in climates where high humidity and salt water combine forces and tend to be more harsh on outdoor furnishings.
Along with extruded aluminum and stainless steel, some of our outdoor tables and chairs have frames constructed from powdercoated iron. The powdercoat provides a layer of protection and inhibits the development of rust.
Teak is a dense and stable hardwood that is ideal for outdoor furniture. This is due in part to the amount of oils that help make it naturally waterproof. For many of our our outdoor teak pieces, we use only Grade A, plantation grown, FSC-certified teak. When left untreated, teak will weather naturally to a beautiful silvery grey; however, if you prefer the un-weathered warm brown color, seasonally treat your furniture with our water-based, non-toxic outdoor furniture protection products.
We also use FSC-certified eucalyptus wood for our wooden umbrella poles and FSC-certified mahogany for our popular, portable table in a bag. Both woods are responsibly harvested from plantations that meet the FSC's rigorous standards for forest management.
Polystyrene Faux Wood
Polystyrene is a type of plastic that has been around since the 1930s and today is very common. It's used to make plastic models, food containers, CD jewel cases and, recently, outdoor faux wood furniture. The polystyrene we use has special additives (including antioxidants) that protect it from UV rays and prevent it from fading. It's a terrific addition to our other outdoor furniture materials as it offers the look of wood while being incredibly easy to care for.
For our outdoor textiles, we select Sunbrella fabric for our solid options and some of our stripes. Sunbrella is a leader in the industry and their solution-dyed acrylic ensures years of outstanding performance. For our printed outdoor pillows and umbrella covers, we use spun-polyester and colorful dyes that have UV protection properties to inhibit fading from the sun's rays.
