Best value, best quality flatware
I needed a large set of flatware for entertaining at my home but had trouble finding something with a high quality weight, style, and finish at a good price until I looked at the Crate&Barrel flatware. I picked the Strand style for its elegance and simplicity--it works with casual or formal gatherings. It is dishwasher safe and had held up beautifully. I have even had guests tell me "what attractive flatware."

great for everyday use
I bought this to use as my everyday flatware and I am very happy with it! It has a nice weight to it for the price. I didn't want to use my wedding flatware (which I also purchased from C&B and this is a great alernative!

Spots on the knives
The design is great and the price is right but dark spots and rust showed up right away on the knives. I don't use a citrus detergent. I use Finish dishwasher tabs.

Great Starter Set
We have owned this set for the past 9 years. I've read through the reviews about the stains and rust and it is likely due to some of the owners using a dishwasher detergent with citrus. Most dishwasher detergents on the market have lemon or orange and the wash instructions explicitly tell you to not wash with citrus.
Why did I give it 3 stars? Pros: The weight of this flatware is excellent. You can scoop ice cream and not worry that the spoon will bend. Cons: It loses its shine quickly.
This was the set we registered for when we were getting married and just starting out. We wanted a set that we could replace pieces if needed and do it inexpensively. Now, 9 years later, we're going to replace the set, but we're also going to replace our everyday dinnerware as well. I would recommend this set to a couple just starting out.

sturdy, elegant flatware
These pieces are elegant, versatile, and have a nice weight to them. I've owned a set for four years (of handwashing) and they have held up well.

Rusted
Received as a wedding gift. Pieces started rusting with less than 3 uses.

Great flatware
I have owned the 50 piece Strand flatware for about 10 years. I love this flatware. It has a comfortable, sturdy feel. Some flatware is too lightweight and feels cheap, but not this set. I get compliments from guests often about the way it feels in your hand. I have a couple of knives that have a bit of the spots mentioned in other reviews (after about 8 years use) but other than that my set still looks like new. I would highly recommend this set.

Disappointed
My husband and I received this produect for a wedding gift and after using it only 6 months the flatware became tarnished, rusted, and developed small black specks all over. The utensils also seemed to scratch easily. I was looking for flatware that I could use for a lifetime and I was so disappointed with this set that I returned it and purchased another flatware set instead. I would not recommend this to anyone.

Excellent Choice
We registered and recieved this gorgeous tablewear 9 years ago from Crate and Barell. It still looks and feels the same and our dinner guests ALWAYS compliment us.

Fantastic Flatware
I have been very happy with this flatware purchase. The styling is the perfect balance of classic with a fresh edge. Taking a few quick minutes to hand-dry the pieces after they have been through the dishwashing cycle helps keep water spots off. Lovely pieces!

Fabulous Flatware
After spending 2 years looking for a simple, elegant, dishwasher-safe set of stainless flatware, I found this fabulous set at Crate and Barrel. It goes with both my everyday dishes and my fancier china. Best yet, it fits perfectly in the utensil slots of my Bosch dishwasher. (Many other sets were too big!)

Spots and rust
I bought the 50-piece set about 6 months ago for Thanksgiving dinner and almost immediately I noticed dark spots and rust on the finish that do not come off with polish. The Strand set is indeed pretty but I would NOT recommend it solely on the fact that I cannot wash it in the dishwasher and most of the pieces are ruined from little spots that won't go away. I greatly regret this purchase--won't be buying any more flatware from Crate & Barrel.

Lovely
We received the full set as a wedding present 5 years ago. They are very sturdy and are starting to develop a lovely patina finish with daily wear. I came to the site looking to buy additional sets because we love the clean lines of the pattern so much.

Durable Flatware
We purchased this flatware because we wanted something sturdy that would not bend easily. (I always get the fork with the bent tine!) It is very sturdy and still looks new after 6 years of daily use. The only negative is that they are heavy and often slide off our guests plates right onto the floor as they aren't expecting to have to balance the flatware on their plates.

Great Flatware!
I purchased the Strand flatware several years ago and continue to be satisfied by the high quality of this merchandise. It is not only a solid weight and finely balanced, it still looks brand new! It makes a fine wedding or Christmas gift.
