Designed in 1956, Kivet ("stones") marked the beginning of the close relationship between the legendary designer Maija Isola and Marimekko. A simple yet modern pattern, originally created by cutting paper circles with scissors, Kivet has been recreated in a variety of colors since its inception in black on white. Its simplicity makes the pattern an iconic and fundamental Marimekko print, representative both of the company's philosophy and graphic legacy.
