The Story

Frosted orbs soak up the sun to provide hours of solar-powered night lighting. Chic globes have a flat base to sit tableside and removable webbed straps for hanging. In order for lights to fully recharge, make sure they are exposed to sunlight throughout the day. Lights turn on from inside the lamp. To turn on lights, hold bottom half of globe and twist top half counter-clockwise, pull up on top to access on/off switch

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great alternative to candles in garden stakes! I placed these in tall five foot tall garden stakes with glass holders that normally hold a candle and these resist water, soak up sun and are maintenance free. They surround our pool and glow at night ! Perfect and easy and I got them on sale...even better!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Solar LIghting Ever! I purchased 2 large and 3 small lights over a year ago. I used fishing line to hang them from my deck beam. After using them last summer and this summer (I took them down for the winter), they all still light up giving a nice soft glow creating a great ambiance on the deck. It would be great is Crate and Barrel had more specific instruction on use. I did not take the batteries out when not in use, as mentioned by another reviewer, but that is a good idea.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad quality Bought 4 of these lights a month ago and the quality is really bad. Some nights only a couple of the lights come on and other nights none of them come on. Sometimes when you touch them they'll come back on randomly. Definitely not worth the cost.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LuvEm, and folks, lets use our brains Bought 3 total (2 small and 1 large), and am going back for more.Use your brains - like every solar led I have ever seen, there is a switch - turn it on. It's not rocket science to find folks - you will eventually have to replace the battery too (they wear out after multiple season's of on/off). Guess how to get that???If you are going to pull them in for the winter (if you have cold winter's, like us in Chi-beria - I would recommend pulling in for the winter, open the halves, and remove the battery (we all know that you shouldn't leave batteries stored and not being used) inside their electronics, right??), and store the batteries separately.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for the price These work as advertised. What would make them more fun, is if they changed colors. I actually thought they were a little too bright for where I wanted them. So, I opened them up and applied some tempura paint inside the tube running down the middle. Green in one and blue in the other (I'd ordered two). Now one gives a nice soft green glow and the other a blue glow. They stay on a long time into the night.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Lights! I bought the small and large - neither disappoint. I hang them from my retractable SunSetter awning and from the bimini top of our boat. Used them all last summer with zero issues. Plan to purchase a few more for this summer...

Rated 2 out of 5 by from 3 out of 3 no longer work. I am so disappointed in these lights. Love the look for sure, but that's where it stops. First, my large globe refuses to open for the most part, making turning it on and off a bit of a challenge. Second, after about 2 months of owning them (and using minimally, I actually bought them for camping) - none of them seem to work anymore. I've left them out in full sun for days on end, and when I turn them on at night, even after a few days of 'charging', they only stay on for 15 minutes, if that. I would love them, if they worked. Too late to return them, as I didn't keep tags or receipts since they worked consistently when I first purchased them. - I'm so bummed!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bright! These are much brighter than solar LED lights I bought from another store, and I like the modern design. Yes, you do need to turn the switch to "on," I find that's standard with most electronics, and it was pretty easy to do. After that, they are self-reliant, they turn on automatically when it gets dark, and are off during the day.The first one I got didn't come on, but I was pleased when I called, they sent another one for free, no hassle. I'm still rating 5 stars, as the service was great, and the replacement works great, and as I mentioned, lights brighter than other lights I've tried. I hang it in a tree next to my car, as I live in a rural area with no street lights. Its pretty bright by itself, but I may get a few more to complete the effect.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from turn on the switch...is it a secret? Thank goodness for the kindness of previous reviewer who wrote about the need to open the globe (not easy) and turn the switch to "on".Nothing in the little attached "flag" gives one any directions or even a hint that the solar lights need to be turned on. I was about to return them when I went to the crate and barrel website and read the reviews.Even the product description online says nothing about this switch. what's up, crate and barrel?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from No Fuss Outdoor Lighting I put mine on a small tree in my backyard and they look wonderful. Here are a few tips:1) Before you put them in your desired location. Let them charge for at least 6 hours in direct sunlight. This will ensure that they get a full charge and that they are working.2) Make sure to turn them on before you hang them. The switch is inside the globe. You can leave the switch on and they will charge during the day. I have left the switches on for close to a month and they come on just after dusk and stay on between 4-6 hours.3) Place them where you would like them when it's sunny out. They will need direct sunlight for about six hours a day and you want to be sure that all of them get sun. This is especially critical if you are putting them in a tree, bush or patio lattice.4) Some might turn on or off sooner than the others. If you find that one or two are not coming on or staying on late then they are probably not getting enough sun and you may want to move them to a sunny location. After the initial set-up I have only had to move one of the globes to ensure it gets enough sunlight, but these are no fuss lighting at it's best. The Velcro holder makes placement easy and secure.Once they are in a sunny place, you just let them do their job. They emit a nice soft white glow, bright enough to provide some light but not too bright to be distracting. I have received several compliments, everyone loves themGreat idea. I highly recommend them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Night sensor? I had the same problem as the reviewer above. I hung them high up in a tree, and after they didn't come on for two nights, I crawled back up into the tree and discovered that I had to open them to turn them on.Now my question is, did they burn out overnight, or do they come on at dusk and go off at daylight? I want to order more, but obviously I can't climb that tree every day to turn them off and on, so I need to know if they conserve their own energy in the daylight.I'd give them 5 stars if I knew they were turning off in the daytime and back on at night. These are great, but the product description could be a lot more thorough.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great light Had to figure out how to turn the ball light on by turning the two haves of the ball open, then turning the switch on the inside top half on.
