DeLonghi ® Dedica Slimline Espresso Maker is rated 4.2727 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent machine I've had this machine about a month. I did a fair bit of research before buying and decided on this model largely due to reviews and price. My $100 DeLonghi finally died and I'd been pretty happy with it, but thought I'd up my espresso game a bit. It's a smart machine. Smarter than me, and I read the instructions to understand how to utilize the menu options. It lets you set things like temperature, pull time, and automatic shut off. On that last point it took me a while to figure out that while there's an on/off button on the side, the machine also just turns off by itself, so you don't need to depress the on/off button when you're done. A paper strip for assessing water pH was supposed to come with the machine, but I never found mine. That's for setting a reminder to descale the machine. I used to froth my milk first, but with this machine, using the frother first gets the machine too hot to make the espresso so you'd have to wait until it cools down (or turn it off/on). And, speaking of the frother, it always starts with a stream of water before you get steam, so I use a little cup to catch the water first, then froth the milk. One key feature I needed in a new machine was a water reservoir that is detachable. I use chilled water every day, so a removable reservoir was essential. After getting this machine I experimented with bottled water, and I hate to admit it, but chilled bottled water makes for the best espresso.Very happy with this purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to Use! My husband and I purchased this a few months ago, I'm in love! My husband was convinced we needed a pricier machine, and I'm glad we went for it. It makes really nice espresso, and the milk frother is easy to use. You will have to play around with the heat settings and how finely ground your espresso is to get a good shot. But that's what makes it fun! :) The Baratza Encore Coffee Grinder complements this product well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great cappuccino maker! Didn't want another machine that required pods. Used Illy coffee grounds and makes awesome cappuccino. Better then anything you'd get at DD. The trick is to get the coffee hot by warming up the machine properly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well designed, good output I purchased this product about a month ago in a C&B store. The product itself is well made; good quality throughout, and makes good espresso. The instructions were clear and it was easy to set up, and so far has required no maintenance. It's compact (thin) so it fits easily on your counter-top.A couple areas to be aware of:-Since it is so thin, you have to use 2 hands to twist the espresso handle on. It's not difficult (unless you have arthritis), just takes a bit of practice.-The tamper that comes with the machine is plastic, so buy a nice aluminum or steel one.-The milk frother works very well and is integrated into the machine; it's got a fairly short stem on it however so if you plan to buy a frothing cup be sure you don't get one that's too deep.-The product advertises a cup warmer on the top. Several reviews I read before I bought the unit commented on this; it barely gets warm and wouldn't possibly keep a cup warm; I think it's just the internal water heater making it slightly warmish. Not a big deal because you can use hot water from the frother to warm your espresso cup. It's taken me some time to get the right espresso for my taste, and after trying several coffees and different grinds, I've settled on a #3 grind of either Peets Major Dickasons or Starbucks French Roast espresso. The grind is key, if you grind it too small the coffee will always be bitter and sour.Summary: I use this daily and really enjoy it. I would buy it again, and would probably still choose it above other brands.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great foam, good espresso I bought this product about 2 months ago. I didn't want to be locked into another brand's capsules and needed something for my ltd counter space. Since it was new there were few reviews but I decided to take a chance. Pros - sleek, slim profile on the counter. Good water reservoir - can see level easily and fill without removing the container. Heats up very quickly. Frother is great. Cleans up easily. Unit has light to indicate when it needs descaling, which is great reminder to keep up on that- If descaling light illuminates on Monday morning just when you need that double espresso shot to get out the door - you don't want to deal with that. You can still get a couple latte's before the machine says - unh-unh. and you must descale. Cons - Deloghi descaler is pricey but works well. Also Unit is not bottom weighted, so have to hold it down to squarely seat portafilter. Would like it better if it felt more substantial/was bottom weighted a bit more. Espresso /crema is good but still tinkering with grind and tamping to get it just right. Coffee flavor improves after descaling - for initial uses - coffee didn't taste right until it had been descaled... The cup rest on the bottom is just high enough to keep me from making espresso directly into some of my favorite mugs so after warming my mug, I remove it to allow the espresso to brew directly into my cup. Espresso cups fit fine, but I'm a latte girl. Overall - a very good machine, easy to use, great slim profile. A bit pricey for a basic machine, but this machine has grown on me a bit more every morning.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Slim design I recently purchased this espresso maker for myself. I've enjoyed the simplicity, quickness and amazing frothier from this machine. The design was the main reason it got my eye, my old machine reminded of a tank, big and heavy. I'm thankful I found this and am enjoying my morning espresso!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from nice looking! I bought this a few weeks ago. I do like the look and that it is not huge. Mostly I like the automatic flow stop, but I wish the filter would have an easy eject feature as it is a bit of pain to get rid of the used coffee grinds. Also the hight is just a bit too small for regular coffee cups. YOu can take the bottom out to fit larger cups but if the regular height would be just a bit higher, would be much better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great machine! This machine way exceeded my expectations. Budget friendly, great performance. Quick, simple design and very easy to use. Frother works really well, too! Very happy with my purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Santa Brought Me Caffeine, in a sexy package. After searching the deepest recesses of the internet for a pump expresso machine to could re-create the perfect Cuban "cortadito", this stylish DeLonghi EC680 appeared in my browser. The sexy curves, designed by an Italian with a flare for counter top fashion, instantly caught my eye. The gleaming stainless steel skin matched my other appliances, and I had the perfect spot to display it for maximum visual effect. Now that the style requirement was settled, what about the substance? Was this just another sleek and sexy Kardashian'esk machine without a soul?I had to try it. If they put so much effort into designing such a beautiful device, they surely took the time to design the pump mechanism, and make it as sexy to an engineer as it is to a designer. The decision was made. I put pen to paper, and as carefully as I could, I made my case to Santa Claus. With all the eloquence I could muster, I told my story of growing up in Miami, and driving by the cuban caferterias in the morning. You could smell the fresh aroma of "Cafe Bustelo" steaming from an immense Rancilio industrial expresso machine from the highway. The car would veer itself towards the siren song of the "cafe con leche" and deliver me to the coffee of heaven itself.Envelope licked and stamp pressed. I hoped that Santa loves coffee as much as I do.On the dawn of the 25th, Santa didn't let me down. My kids were in awe at how fast I unwrapped the paper and freed the DeLonghi from its package. Bustelo ground expresso in hand, I flew through the instructions and followed them to the letter.30 seconds. That's all it took for the pump to warm up. I primed the steam wand to extract 100ml of water, as instructed. Demitasse cup in place, I hit the double shot button. The pump flexed it's muscles to pre-infuse the grounds, then stopped for a second. Then it happened. pumping gently, the machine delivered a steady stream of liquid heaven. The crema was perfect. Golden brown and frothy. The aroma filled my senses and transported me back to the little Havana of my youth.I've made several hundred shots since then, and each one is a perfect as the first. The DeLonghi has worked flawlessly from cortaditos (straight black Cuban expresso) to the Hotel Mangani Rome's killer Cappucino. If you use the right coffee, with the right expresso grind, the machine leaves nothing to be desired from the super-model Rancilio, or multi-thousand dollar machines. OK sure, in the hands of an expert there may be a difference. But from my kitchen, it's a time machine that delivers happiness, and a delicious dose of caffeine at least twice a day.
