Attractive but not Durable
We purchased this in black two years ago. It is attractive. The castors work well to allow it to be repositioned.
The sliding doors have been extrememly problematic as the unit has aged. The tracks have warped and now at least once a week one or both doors fall off. The doors are then a pain to get back on the tracks. I would now only recommend this unit if the items to be stored in it are not accessed that often or it will be used for less than a year.

Great purchase! Love it!
I love my new kitchen island. There is a ton of storage. Very easy to assemble and was able to do it on my own.

I Love It
I love this kitchen island. I had been looking for a kitchen island for a while. And this kitchen island has everything I wanted. Because my kitchen is small, I needed island has storage and casters to make it to move. Also it can be a dinner table. I'm glad I finally found my kitchen island.

Functionality meets style
I've been eyeing this hutch for a while. We aren't using as an island. We are using it for additional storage against a wall. So we were soooo happy when we learned it came with permanent legs instead of just the wheels shown in the picture. It gives our kitchen a very old-world feel while still being modern. The farm-house white goes with our kitchen very well. I was a little nervous when I found out I had to assemble it, but it actually wasn't too difficult. It took me about 2 hours from start to finish and I was all by myself.
Last but not least, the fold out top is convenient. We have it kept down most of the time, but when we have people over for parties, it gives us just a tiny bit of extra countertop space for food and drinks.
Totally worth the money.

Perfect solution
This unit was one of the key pieces in a kitchen 'refresh' we completed. We changed our cabinet hardware to match the brushed chrome on the Belmont Island and it looks fantastic!
The island is perfect for storage, food preparation and quick meals.

Perfect
I have owned and used this piece daily for the past 1.5 years and couldn't be happier with it. It receives heavy use since I have a small kitchen and this is my primary workspace. It still looks absolutely beautiful and I always receive a complement and inquiry as to where I purchased it. I put it together myself and found the instructions clear and easy to follow.

great purchase
Wonderful storage space, perfect workspace, beautiful appearance. Love the drop leaf for extra workspace or a perfect spot for children to sit on stools for homework. Excellent product.

Adds so much space!
I LOVE this island. It has added so much extra storage space and counter space to our kitchen. My husband was able to put it together without much difficulty. Because it is on wheels, it is easy to 1) move it around the kitchen to wherever your workspace is/near outlets, 2) clean the floor when you are done. It is very sturdy, and well constructed.

Love It!
This island works perfectly in our kitchen. We used the legs instead of the casters, and it looks like a permanent part of our kitchen. This island provides the perfect amount of extra storage and counterspace that we needed, without taking up a lot of floor space.

Exactly what I was looking for!
I recently bought an older home with an updated kitchen and not much room for a table. I contemplating calling a carpenter to build a custom island suitable for my two young boys to eat and do homework. A friend had mentioned she received one as a housewarming gift so I looked into it. I am so pleased with this purchase. It is beautiful, well-crafted, durable, easy to put together. My guests have commented on how nice its looks and are surprised that its not a custom piece.

Excellent Buy for the Kitchen
This island was easy to assemble and the quality is really excellent. I was surprised by how attractive the finishes are and the amount of storage space. I recommend this to anyone looking for kitchen furniture.

Nice stuff, but long assembly and some flaws
I really like this piece: great size, nice material and perfect for my kitchen. It's made out of real wood and you can still smell the paint on it when you take it out of the box, so it's definitely something that you can keep forever and refinish when the time comes.
But there are a few draw backs.
1. The assembly takes a long time
2. On the one that I got, the drawer tracks weren't quite aligned on one side so one side of the drawer sticks out a little further than the other
3. The casters don't lock as well as I had hoped

Great addition to kitchen
I replaced my kitchen table with this to gain more storage, and to better accommodate cooking in the funky kitchen in my little 110 year old house. The "breakfast bar" feature is wonderful, as is the extra storage. I had no problems putting this together, and did so without any help - although would recommend help putting the island top on if you can.
I love that I can roll this anywhere needed, and that I can brake it in place while I am rolling out dough, or whatever. I also love the dimensions, which allow me to easily move around the kitchen when it is "parked" in its usual island position. I was never able to do so with my small kitchen table.
I wish I had made this switch years ago!

Versatile Piece
My MIL got us this piece because we were looking for more storage, more counter space, and the ability to fit bar stools in this very bizarre sized floating corner in my kitchen. This achieves all of these, AND has wheels so I can use it as a floating cutting board on top of all of that. Amazing.
IF YOU ARE ABOUT TO ASSEMBLE, READ THIS:
I am the least mechanically inclined person ever, but I am very strong. It took me 3.5 hours to put this together by myself. **Do NOT remove the stopper dowels from counter portion of it*** The "parts" list is misleading in a way. My process:
I took all of the pieces out of the box and labeled them by writing on their wrappers as they matched up to the parts list. (Again, ignore the 2 dowels you think you are missing..leave them where they are). No worries about the left and rights, they are labeled and you will see this as you unwrap.
I laid out two large towels on my hardwood and went to work.
Be careful with the drawers, I had to unscrew some of my work because I don't believe the instructions warned to ensure to look for holes to face down on the BACK DRAWER PLATE. Not a huge deal to fix because I have an electric drill.
Which leads me to my next tip, ignore the warning for the electric drill. Just put it on a slow speed. This would take even longer if you don't use one.
Get a flashlight when you have to install that countertop. This is a huge construction/design flaw.
Best of luck. This only gets 4 stars because there was a scratch in my countertop as soon as I unwrapped it and I was very very gentle with it prior to that. Also, assembly is okay, but tedious. With the amount of $ paid for shipping, this should have been pre-built.

Very Nice Piece
We got this for our wedding and were really excited to use it in our kitchen for extra storage and as a table when needed. I have assembled a lot of tables, cabinets, etc. in the past but I was ready for a challenge after reading the reviews. It really was not hard to put together; the instructions were very clear and easy to follow. I agree that the screws under the top are very difficult to screw in but that literally was the only problem I had with this piece. Maybe I had a little more patience with it since I knew from previous reviewers that it would be a pain. I put this together on my own in about 2 hours; my husband just had to help me at times when you needed to turn the unit over or lift the whole thing. It is a nice size and adds ample counter space as well as a table top which we needed in our smallish apartment. Definitely recommend.

Beautiful but tricky to assemble
I've been looking at kitchen islands for years for my medium size vintage kitchen. Missed out on the Somerset Island cause I waited too long but decided to get this one - finally. Required a pickup at a C & B 2 hours away to avoid the $$$$$$$ shipping charge. Helpful employees helped me get it to the car and a dolly helped get it into the house. It weighs 175 lbs in the box so get help!
It took 2 people 2 1/2 hours to assemble - and I swear 30 minutes of that was on the - as noted below - ridiculously small screws and impossible angle in the rear of the underside of the top. If you get the least bit impatient with projects like these, just be aware that as you near the end, the most challenging part is still ahead.
Once it's assembled it's great. Beautiful, sturdy and completely improves the functionality of the kitchen. The friend who helped assemble didn't think it was that hard but you'll still need a lot of patience with a few parts.

Useful, BUT...
We have a small kitchen in Brooklyn so this piece is quite functional. Great for extra storage and the top is great for chopping or rolling out dough etc...
With all of that being said...assembly took us 3 hours (35 minutes just to unpack it). I have absolutely no idea how some reviewers assembled this alone. If they really did, their street cred just sky rocketed.Attaching the table top was boarderline ridiculous. I have very small hands and fingers, but one would need freakishly small hands to easily screw in the back.
If you are patient and have another person to help, by all means this is a great item. Would have given it 5 stars if assembly was easier.

Great Piece, but Not Very "Green"
I ordered the Belmont Kitchen Island and it was delivered about a week later. So kudos to Crate & Barrel for quick delivery. I have been considering purchasing this item for several months, and finally decided to go for it ($500 is not a small amount for me to pay, so I thought long and hard about it). I'm happy to say I am thrilled so far.
I live in an apartment with a small kitchen, so needed a streamlined piece that was roomy and could be used for storage, extra counter space, and as a dining table when necessary. This piece totally fits the bill and looks terrific in my kitchen. (I also bought the Delta Counter Stools to go with it, which look great). It does come in about 20 pieces, but as long as you are organized and follow the instructions, assembly is easy. I was able to put it together myself (and I'm 5'4", 125 lbs) and manuever it into my kitchen on my own. I also like that there was an option for legs or casters ... I chose to put the casters on so I can easily move it for cleaning. It looks great was exactly what I was looking for. I am really happy with the purchase.
My only problem/issue is the ridiculous amount of STYROFOAM packed in the box. I've literally never seen so many pieces of styrofoam. I appreciate that the pieces were packed securely and nothing was damaged, but there has to be a greener, better way to pack items, Crate & Barrel! I seriously had 4 trash bags FULL of styrofoam pieces in the end. Ugh.

Perfect Solution
This island is a perfect solution for small spaces that need additional storage. It's a very heavy, well-made piece and the quality seems excellent. I wish there was an option to PAY the delivery guys to assemble it or have it delivered already assembled. It took me HOURS to do by myself and there are some steps that it's nearly impossible to correct except by taking the piece apart and starting all over. Although the step by step instructions were good, A global overview of the assembly process would have helped alot. Overall, I'm really happy with this piece, despite the torture of assembling it.

Wonderful Product
This is a wonderful product. Substantial in construction, and not difficult to assemble. I have gotten many compliments, and it looks great and is so versatile. I use it for much needed storage, but can pull it away from the wall for extra work space, eating space or serving area. It exceeded my expectations!
