This is a great cocktail for batching in larger amounts, especially when gathering for Thanksgiving.
ingredients
- 1½ ounces Bourbon
 - ½ ounce Orange liqueur
 - ¼ ounce Brown Sugar Vanilla Syrup (see below)
 - 2 dashes of chocolate bitters (or aromatic bitters)
 - Orange peel twist
 - Rosemary sprig
 - How to make Brown Sugar Vanilla Syrup:
 - In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and 1 vanilla bean pod split lengthwise with the seeds scraped out.
 - Bring to a light simmer and add 2 cups of brown sugar.
 - Gently stir the mixture to dissolve the sugar.
 - Once the sugar is dissolved, remove the saucepan from the heat and allow the syrup to cool.
 - Using a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth, strain out the vanilla bean pod and seeds, and store the syrup in a glass jar in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.

directions
- Combine all ingredients into a mixing glass filled with ice and stir. Strain the drink into a rocks glass over a cube of ice, and garnish with an orange twist and sprig of rosemary (optional: lightly torch the rosemary sprig for added aroma).
