Crate & Kids: What was your favorite part about designing a kid’s room and what were some of the challenges?
Breegan: Kids rooms truly allow me to approach design from a lighthearted, effervescent place. There’s a different type of imaginative conceptualization involved, and that’s fun to do! The biggest challenge involves maintaining my signature “modern, approachable luxury” stylings. I want the room to be kid-appropriate, but I have never believed children’s rooms have to be kitschy. They can embody the playful innocence of a child and elevated design simultaneously. I also like to tackle the challenge of designing a room that will grow with the child as they mature and develop. That involves careful selection of furniture, colors and themes.
