Hannah Bronfman Shares Nursery Design Picks and Baby Massage Tips
Hannah Bronfman does it all. Wife, author, founder, on-camera personality and now the most important of them all—mother. For those of you who follow the daily (and busy) life of Hannah, you know that her style comes effortlessly, and that is exactly what we wanted to echo when partnering with Hannah to design baby Preston’s nursery. Below, Hannah shares her nursery inspiration, tips for baby massages and how to create the most calm environment for your little ones.
CRATE & KIDS: Why did you decide to go with a natural and serene vibe for Preston’s nursery?
HANNAH: Our house vibe is a modern farmhouse with neutral tones, and we wanted Preston’s room to feel like an extension of the house—just as he is an extension of our family. We knew we didn’t want to do any wallpaper, so we used the natural light to make his room feel natural and serene.
CRATE & KIDS: What are three tips you would give to parents designing their first nursery?
HANNAH: Three tips I would give to anyone designing their first nursery are:
1. Shelves on the wall to hold black and white flash cards.
2. Don’t overcrowd the room with things so that there is enough room for both of you in there.
3. Traditionally a rocking chair is the gold standard for a nursery. However, [I think] a daybed is the key element in a nursery, because oftentimes you’re so tired and it’s nice to relax or nap in the daybed.
CRATE & KIDS: We love the mix of neutral textiles and cane furniture in your nursery! Tell us about the pieces you chose and why you love them.
HANNAH: We love cane furniture so much, so when we saw the Thornhill Crib, we knew that it would be a great fit for Preston’s nursery and that we could build around it. We also thought that the Kids Canyon Dresser would complement the crib nicely. Two great accent pieces that we thought would round out the nursery design are the Larkin Black Metal Daybed and the Snoozer Storage Ottoman.
CRATE & KIDS: Can you tell us about incorporating baby massage into your mom-and-baby routine?
HANNAH: I love getting massaged and just being touched in general, so I wanted to share my love of touch with Preston. Of course I’m holding him all the time, but using an organic beautiful oil and massaging his little legs makes me and him so happy! You could say physical touch is one of my love languages!
CRATE & KIDS: We’d love to learn some of your massage tips. Can you walk us through some of your massage steps?
HANNAH: Honestly, I am just feeling it out and making it up as I go. Preston is still so young and is still fidgety, so I like to talk or sing to him while I rub him down to keep him engaged and calm. I also like to pay attention to not only his body but his face as well. I like to do little circles in his cheeks!
