Named for a complex welding technique used to secure non-ferrous metals and copper alloys, our Tig chair revels in the contrast of raw metals and the intricate welds that are typically covered with an opaque topcoat.
Fashioning this kind of weld is difficult, and we relied on a team of highly skilled craftsmen who specialize in a kind of wire weaving that's been passed along from generation to generation. Entirely handcrafted, each chair is made in three stages by teams expert in frame structures, wire patterns for the seat and back and the final welding. Once finished, stools are given a light acid wash bath yielding a grey iron patina and subtle brass weld marks. Perfectly proportioned for our Tig dining chair, the optional black or brown leather cushion adds soft cushioning and a natural counterpoint to Tig's intricately welded design. The Tig Dining Chair and Cushion are Crate and Barrel exclusives.
