The Story

Grind and brew a stay-fresh pot right into a 12-cup thermal carafe. Cuisinart's state-of-the-art brushed stainless coffee maker does it all: just fill the 8-ounce hopper with whole beans, and the built-in burr grinder will grind them to perfection prior to brewing. Grind control and brew settings let you program from 2–12 cups, fine-tuned the way you like it—mild, medium or strong. Easy-to-use control panel features 24-hour programming, quick-pause function to sneak a cup during brewing, and a special 2- to 4-cup setting. Charcoal water filter keeps out calcium and chlorine; gold-tone filter locks in flavor. Grind feature may be deactivated to brew pre-ground coffee.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from If Taste Matters If you like a great tasting cup of coffee, this is the coffee maker you should select. Fresh beans are ground and brewed all in one. Adjustment setting for strength of coffee and quantity makes this machine for you. The only drawback is that you do have to clean out grinder hopper at least once a week. But if the taste matters then I would recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great coffee!! Bought this coffee maker for my husband. Our only complaint is that the hopper doesn't hold more beans. Great flavor, easy to use. Our second stainless steel pot and the coffee stays hot several hours.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best coffeemaker every I have bought Bunn,Breeville coffeemakers and none has compared to Cuisnart it is the best of all .The coffee is great I had the Curinart before but thought I would try a differ maker that was a mistake never again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We love this pot! Bought this for my husband, the picky coffee maker. Takes up less counter space than a pot and grinder. Has all the features we want. The drawback for us, the grander only holds 1/2 pound of coffee.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointing! Our first cuisinart grind and brew was the ten cup thermal carafe. It was constantly needing cleaning, so we gave it to our daughter and bought the 12 cup grind and brew, mistakenly thinking a more expensive model would be better. WRONG! After complaining to Cuisinart about the grinder always jamming, they sent us a new one. Worked beautifully for a couple years. This ones grinder is starting to go, the bottom of basket broke off, the lid to the carafe is hard to get on and off, AND it is always clogging. Never a Cuisinart again.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from The grinder portion of the Cuisinart Grinder brew My husband and I have been using the Cuisinart Grind and Brew Thermal 12 cup coffee machine for roughly one month, and today, just a little over one month later the grinder no longer works. The machine makes a good cup of coffee and the thermal pot is really great for keeping the coffee warm. We would recommend getting a coffee machine without the grinder and buy a standalone burr grinder instead.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The best overall choice considering... I have had the same version of this unit in use for the last 6 years at least 4 times daily in a very busy office setting. In the six years before this coffee maker I burned out the elements or grinders of at least 7 other coffee makers with multi-time daily use at our office. Most of those were within the first 6 months. I now use three of these machines in total at our office of 36 folks and none of them have ever burned out or failed in any way. The other two machines are 4 years old now and are holding up just as well as the original.Let me state without the slightest bias that you cannot have everything this machine offers in durability, programmability, heat retention (thermal carafe), and price now; especially considering how long they last. I have tried every other machine on the market that presents a better marketing campaign. None are even close to what this machine can do. There are a few fairly minor tradeoffs that have to do specifically with how well you choose your beans and maintenance routine. If you use particularly cheap oily beans, you will clog the grinder chute as stated. Freezing such beans eliminates that issue. It should also be filled with properly filtered water via something with a narrow spout so you don't accidentally spill the water into the bean tray or have minerals from tap water create flow issues down the line when caked on the delivery tubes. These same issues will kill every other grind and brew machine on the market as well...only those units die completely while this unit simply needs a bit of cleaning. It may be important to some to know that virtually every part that could wear out and/or break due mainly to misuse; is available to purchase directly through CuisineArt's parts division.I have learned some tricks with this coffee machine over the years that will help many of those who have lodged complaints here. On the issue of strength one must choose strong coffee first and foremost, then simply use slightly less water than you would normally with a full bean grind. If you insist on loading as much water as the machine holds (not actually recommended per the manual as it risks spilling over the top of the carafe), then you can do two grinds of beans to insure the grind tray is to the top. First do a 4 cup grind, then turn it off, then back on with a 12 cup grind to completion (both grinds on the "strong" setting). That will give a full thermal carafe of very strong coffee. At the office the coffee goes too quickly to ever get cold, but I can assure you that the thermal carafe in my home machine keeps the coffee hot for at least 6 hours and it takes another 3 after that for it to be room temperature. We routinely put the bean trays, filter basket parts, and carafes into high temp dishwashers weekly and there has never been an issue. I've had at least one other unnamed brand's parts warp and melt in the dishwasher. So in closing: Please give this unit a chance to impress you. It has a tiny learning curve, but in every area surpasses all other machines we've tried and is not the typical throwaway type that breaks a week after your warranty expires.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very Poor I have had two of these coffee grinder makers from Cuisinart. The first one stopped working about 4 months after I bought it, then when I called to another one for the warrantee, it cost me $25.00 to ship it back to them for them evaluate whether to send me a new one. I had to wait almost 5 months to get a replacement. When I got the replacement one, it too stopped working after about 6 months. Needless to say, I think the concept is good, but the product is poor. I will not buy another Cuisinart product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding Coffee Maker This coffee maker is worth every penny. I like how you can either grind your own beans or put in ground coffee. It is very simple to use. The coffee comes out nice and hot, and stays hot for hours in the thermal carafe. Easy to keep clean. I very highly recommend this product.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed Having enjoyed the earlier model with a glass carafe I am disappointed to struggle to get the last bit of coffee out of this one and to struggle to get the lid off. It's like it has a vacuum seal. The cleaning part I don't mind and I have never had it clog as stated by another reviewer.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not Worth It When adding items to our wedding registry, I thought top of the line coffee maker with all the bells and whistles was the way to go... wrong! This machine was way more complicated than it needed to be and way too much maintenance. I ended up returning and buying a very basic machine that works just great. I would not purchase unless you were willing to clean out every single morning.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Average, but good price I am happy with the various sizes of the bowls and they are satisfactory for my purposes. One of the bowls was broken when it arrived, but a simple phone call took care of it and they sent out another one within a few days. The bowls are pretty lightweight, but considering the price, they are o.k. I'm glad I have them, but they are not top of the line. Good price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We LOVE this coffee maker! I was reticent at first to purchase a $200 coffee maker, but this is the only one I've found with all of the features I wanted: programmable, thermal carafe, included bean grinder. We use it everyday, sometimes twice a day and haven't had any problems with it. The guide suggests regularly cleaning out the grinder with the included brush, but in 9 months of constant use, we've only had to do that once or twice.Waking up to freshly ground and brewed coffee in the morning is such a pleasant way to start the day. And it stays pretty warm even when we are a bit ambitious for when we set it and wind up not getting up for a couple more hours.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Purchase! I am pretty darn happy with this coffee maker as I love that I can use whole beans or ground beans. I enjoy setting it to brew ahead of time so that I can wake up to a good cup of Joe! The only downside to this is that if you don't get up shortly after your coffee has brewed, it will be cold. The thermal pot is great but I wish there was a way for it to stay warmer (hotter) longer. If you do not use the "timer" then you can always warm up the carafe by filling it with hot water before you brew (dumping the hot water directly into your coffee maker). All in all, a good purchase!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good idea, bad machine I wanted to like this updated 12-cup version of Cuisinart's Grind and Brew because I was a fan of the older, 10-cup model. I admit with the older one I had to replace it every couple of years because the bean grinder mechanism would die out, but at least with that one I knew what I was getting. This newer model is bad on two fronts. One, I want more control over how many beans get put through the grinder. I like strong coffee and in my opinion the machine doesn't process enough beans to make a good, strong brew even when I had it programmed for strong. Two, it doesn't heat the water hot enough to extract all the flavor from the beans. Even when I poured a cup directly after it finished brewing, it wasn't a hot cup of coffee. The best part was when I called Cuisinart customer service to ask how to make the machine work better for what I was looking for and the guy flat out just said to return it. He didn't care at all! Worst customer service experience I've had in a long, long while.
