Sticky mess
The fact that "easy-clean" and "nonstick" are used to describe this product makes me laugh. I've tried all the suggestions from other reviewers and nothing works. Eggs stick to the poacher. The drain holes are useless because the egg sticks to them, so when you try to get the egg out you get a big sloppy watery mess. The handle is hot which only adds to the frustration. This was a total waste of money.

Don't waste your money
Our household is very big on breakfast and it's always great when you can find something that can help you out. This unfortunately did not and I was very disappointed with this product. It created a huge mess and that's after trying it different ways. I returned the product and received my money back.

Really nice product
I disagree with the other reviews. Here is what I did: I boiled the water in a pot with vinegar. Do not put the cups in the water yet! I then cracked the egg into the poacher cup and then lowered it into the pot carefully AFTER the water was at a simmer. Then I left it in for 4 minutes and they were perfect. I lifted the poacher out of the water and gently scooped the egg out with a spoon. Perfect poached eggs.

Perfect Poacher
This poacher works great, no problems, no errors, no issues - just perfect poached eggs.
After reading so many negative posts, I thought I would write mine. Folks love poached eggs, but many have never actually made one themselves - i suspect this is the issue with many of the negative posts. (i.e. Anyone with experience would know that the long neck is never meant to hang off the side of a pan, it's a handle you use to move the poacher in and out of the pan.)
The only thing wrong with this economic, and fantastic individual poacher is that it needed to come with directions for those people who had no idea how to use it, and guessed (incorrectly).
So follow these directions noted in a previous post:
1. Use a pan that's tall enough so you can cover it after you place the poacher in it.
2. Boil water (or chicken broth) with a couple Tablespoons of white vinegar in a pan. (Make sure there's enough water to fill the poacher cup to just under the poacher's brim. This keeps the egg buoyant while cooking and stops it from sticking.)
3. Once the water is boils, turn it down to simmer
4. Put in the empty poachers so they are sitting on the bottom of the pan.
5. Put one egg in each poacher
6. Cover the pan and let the eggs cook for 4 minutes. (Depending on your preference and your stove, you may want to cook longer or less.)
7. Once the eggs are cooked, pick up the poacher by its handle and gently tilt the poacher against the side of the pan to drain residual water off the top of the egg.
8. Then either gently scoop with a teaspoon or slide the egg onto your muffin.
9. OPTIONAL: Some people like to first slide the poached egg onto a paper towel to make it even dryer BUT THIS CAN ONLY BE DONE WITH WELL COOKED POACHED EGGS, NOT LOOSE.
Enjoy.

Is poaching eggs this hard?
I love poached eggs but have never made them myself. I thought I might give it a try with this gadget. Not a lot of the egg stayed within the poacher and what did, stuck to it. I may have done it wrong and will try it again but any helpful hints would be appreciated.

Unappetizing
I used these once. These gross little egg white stalactites form during cooking when the egg seeps through the drainage holes in the bottom of the poachers.
I left these soaking overnight and they rusted immediately. That made me feel better about throwing them out.

easy egg poachers
These work out fairly well, especially when you want to just make an egg or two. I have found that a little cooking spray helps things, and also make sure that you use a pan size that allows them to sit about two inches from the pan bottom (you only need about an inch of water). A larger/deeper pan will exponentially increase the cooking time. I just put the egg in the poacher when the water boils, and cover the pan with a lid - easy. No instructions are included, so I hope you find this helpful.

Waste of $$
really ineffective way to poach eggs... eggs stick to the poacher, it doesn't drain, it is awkward to use, it gets scalding hot.
save your money.

Decent Egg Poacher
I didn't find that my egg stuck to the holder.
It doesnt hang well on side of pan bc mine has lip - but you can stand it up in the bottom of the pan.
Yes, the handle does get hot so I picked it up out of pan with dish towel.
Yes, it is a bit tricky to drain the water. Read other reviews and you will see detailed instructions on how to do this.

A waste of money
This looked like a great idea for pretty poached eggs. the non-stick surface sounded good also. Well, if your pot or pan has a lip on it, this will not work, so now you have to find the right size/height pan to hold the amount of cups you purchased. The eggs DO STICK to the surface, and the drain holes are useless because the egg covers them preventing them from draining. I also experienced the eggs took a long time to cook and when they looked done, upon pouring them out of the cup the whites below the yolk was still raw.

Really great, once you get the trick
Initially, I tried to hang it on the side of the pot. --fail.
But if you leave it resting on the bottom of the saucepan, utter success.
My girls (late teens) are fighting over the two we own because they have to "stand in line" making eggs. I'm definitely going to order 6 more.
Four minutes. . . . perfect.

Disappointing
I've given this thing several tries, and have been disappointed with the results every time. Although there is a nice non-stick surface, the eggs sticks to it. And, the eggs take forever to cook, 5 plus minutes for a runny yoke. You are better-off just dropping them in water. Less clean-up, faster cooking, and no money out the window. I know how to cook, but it would be nice if the company threw in some instructions on how to get the best egg out of their product. This came with nothing.

Love poached eggs
but swirling water/viinegar never produced nice ones, and the last thing I need is another tabletop appliance. Recently had beautiful poached eggs out and yearned to learn. Bought a pair of these. First outing a little disappointing, but made adjustments and the second try was great. Yes, they stick a little, but that's a positive as I see it, as you'll see. First, make sure there's enough water to fill the cup to the brim, erring on the side of too much. That will leave the egg bouyant enough and keep it from sticking at the top. Sticking a little to the bottom is unavoidable, even if it is not a perfect nonstick surface because the egg that falls through the bottom of the cup swell bigger than the holes. Once cooked, scrap the bottom of the cup with a teaspoon to help the cup drain by shaking it a little. Then tip the egg enough to drain redidual water off the top of the egg. This would not be possible without a little sticking. Give it 10 seconds to let some evaporating occur off the top surface of the egg and scoop it onto your muffin or whatever with the teaspoon (tablespoon is too big). Sounds harder than it is. Takes a while to cook, only because it takes a while to boil a nearly full pan of water. Otherwise it's 2 1/2 to 3 minutes for beautiful eggs. A cheap, elegant solution. Only way I see to improve is to make them stackable for storage, but would hang well on a rack anyway.

worthless
Hangs awkwardly, eggs sticks to the item even
when greased. Better off just dropping gthe egg in water
September 18, 2010
The egg poacher kept floating off the side and because the entire thing is metal it was difficult to get the egg out because the handle is as hot as the pan. It does help keep the egg from boiling away and cooks evenly. I don't know why people are saying the egg sticks in boiling water because it doesn't, but I didn't find it to be the most useful gadget.

Eggs Benedict Here I Come
I have already used these, and things turned out really well. Be sure to cook eggs at low temp, and add white vinegar to water. Great product to make my favorite dish!
