The Story

Dispose of the notion of an unattractive wastecan. Manufactured in Germany by the centuries-old housewares company Westermann & Co., this industrial design holds a strong presence in the kitchen. Featuring a rounded rectangular shape in gleaming white and stainless steel, this wastecan allows for hygienic hands-free operation with a press of the stainless-steel foot pedal. Dating back to 1867, Westermann & Co. is known for its quality metal household products.

Wesco ® Singleboy 3.4-Gallon White Trash Can is rated 1.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from poor quality I just redid my laundry room and decided to splurge on an upscale trash can for the space.... this one was a huge disappointment.  The pedal was not stainless steel, as stated in the product description - it is plastic that has been coated with shiny silver paint.  The foot pedal took a lot of pressure to get the lid to open, and when I let it slam shut, it only closed correctly about half the time.  The other times, it closed a little askew and needed a finger nudge to get it to close correctly on the bin.  Overall the trash can felt pretty flimsy and no better that a $19.99 one I could pick up at any big box store.  I sent it back.
