ingredients
- 1 pound hot Italian sausage
- 8 ounce softened cream cheese
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon chipotle powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2½ jalapeños, finely diced (reserve half for garnish)
- ½ onion, chopped
- 2 cups Monterey cheese
- ½ cup cheddar cheese
- Grated Parmesan cheese to top
directions
- Preheat the Ooni Volt Electric Pizza Oven to 375° F.
- Fully cook the sausage in a large cast iron skillet. Remove the sausage and drain on a paper towel. Add the sausage back to the skillet along with the cream cheese and sour cream. Stir over medium-low heat until melted. Add the smoked paprika, chipotle powder, garlic powder, half of the jalapeños and onions, and stir to combine. Then mix in the Monterey and cheddar cheeses.
- Divide the spicy cheese dip between two mini cast iron skillets, then top each with the Parmesan cheese. Cook in the Ooni oven for 10 minutes until the dip is bubbly and crispy around the edges. Add remaining jalapeño slices to the tops. Serve with chips and/or veggies and enjoy!
notes
Use freshly shredded cheese—it will melt easier than pre-shredded cheese.
Do not fill the skillets all the way to the top or the sausage jalapeño popper dip will spill over in the oven.
