Inspired by the Japanese "gyuto"—a traditional chef's knife—this knife slices, dices and chops meats or vegetables with ease. Crafted by hand with over 100 steps, the blade boasts 34 layers of stainless steel forged on each side of a razor-sharp core. The resulting rippled Damascus finish lends durability while keeping the knife lightweight and maneuverable, and hollow-ground indentations prevent food from sticking. The maneuverable blade is shorter and narrower than a standard chef's knife while still allowing plenty of clearance for a comfortable handhold on the ergonomic ebony-hued handle.
Each exquisite Shun knife is carefully crafted in a 100-step process inspired by ancient sword smiths. The amazing blades are created in Seki City, Japan's 700-year-old center for samurai swords.
