Springtime in New England: Hear From Event Expert Why New England Is the Perfect Destination for an Elegant Wedding
Gorgeous coastlines, scenic mountain ranges, historical sites—Sarah Glick of Brilliant Event Planning thinks New England is the perfect wedding destination. She certainly made the case for it at our spring-inspired registry event hosted at our Burlington, MA store. We partnered with Shannon of Shannon Gail Events, our national strategic partner to interview Sarah about her colorful event and wedding experience below.
Couples were welcomed into the store for an intimate registry experience, one-on-one assistance from our store team members, and the opportunity to draw inspiration from some of Boston area’s top wedding professionals.
What was the inspiration behind the style of your event?
Sarah: After a long, New England winter, I wanted to design something vibrant and Spring-inspired to really make couples feel that wedding season is right around the corner (which it is!). It worked out perfectly because the day of our event was absolutely gorgeous weather – the first beautiful day of the year!
What was your favorite moment at the event?
Sarah: I really loved watching Orly Khon's succulent construction presentation (as did our couples!). I do not have a green thumb, so it was fun to see what’s involved step-by-step to be recreated at home!
Tell us more about the awesome vendors!
Sarah: Simply B Designs made the prettiest watercolor signs inspired by the palette. She also had a little station set up with some examples of her work. My favorite is her acrylic work!
Capers Catering cooked up some delicious New England-inspired bites. Their pancake dippers were a huge hit!
BostonGIF brought their GIF Booth, which guests had a great time interacting with! The GIFs share directly to social, so they were able to share little clips right away!
Orly Khon Floral made the organic display for the Top Registry Picks table, as well as the succulent garden demonstration. It was so fun to watch the floral display be constructed live!
We also had Nespresso, Coravin, and Le Creuset join us. Couples loved sampling the Nespresso – it paired so well with the pancake dippers Capers made!
Tell us more about Brilliant Event Planning!
Sarah: We are a luxury wedding and event planning company for fun-loving, busy couples that value creativity and quality. We draw our inspiration from our couples and their stories to create one-of-a-kind weddings and events. We work collaboratively to ensure each event is cohesive and thoughtful, and believe that even the smallest details can have a huge impact. We pride ourselves on our comprehensive event management so that you can have a flawless and stress-free planning experience! We have offices in both Boston and NYC, but often travel around the world for destination weddings. We take on a limited number of events per year to ensure each client receives the highest level of service and attention. Our small, experienced team is dedicated to producing not only a spectacular event, but the foundation for memories that will last a lifetime.
Why do you think it’s important to register in person?
Sarah: It’s so hard to really understand what things actually look like when you buy them online. For example, a vase that looks small online could actually be much larger in-person or material could feel completely different than the computer screen makes it appear. You want to make sure you love everything you register for. Don’t make extra work for yourself with multiple returns!
Why should people get married in New England?
Sarah: New England is magical! We have gorgeous coastlines, scenic mountain ranges, historical sites, and everything from converted warehouses to barns to ballrooms to choose from for your venue. There’s something for everyone!
What are some of your top registry pick products and why did you choose them?
Sarah: Some of my favorites:
KitchenAid Mixer: I couldn’t live without this! I use it for everything – baking, ice cream, pasta…you name it! I seriously don’t know how I made things before I got it! If you bake/cook at all, it’s a must-have!
Frames: When I got married, I suddenly had a ton of professional photos and no frames. Quality frames are costly and I kept putting off buying them because it wasn’t something essential. When I polled my clients, they all said similar things. If you register for frames, you’ll have them when you get the photos back and can pop them right in—easy!
Tiered serving tray: If you entertain at all, this is a must! A tiered stand adds height to your food display and makes it easy to make food look good!
If you could offer couples one piece of registry advice, what would it be?
Sarah: Think about what you will actually use, but wouldn’t necessarily buy yourself. For example, if you don’t bake, don’t register for a KitchenAid just because you think it’s what you’re supposed to register for. You will never use it and you could have had something else that was more practical.
We ask everyone: what’s your dream honeymoon spot?
Sarah: Honestly, probably what my husband and I did for our honeymoon! We hiked the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. It’s certainly a honeymoon for a more adventurous spirit, but it was amazing to be completely unplugged in the wilderness!
What makes Crate registry events special?
Sarah: I love that Crate curates the best in weddings for their couples. You can cross something off of your wedding to-do list while having FUN and meeting vendors that can help you along your planning journey.
