Need a super fast, delicious and playful appetizer? Try our party trick for dressing up popcorn with just a few simple ingredients. This party-perfect Truffle & Parmesan Popcorn recipe could not be easier but beware—it is highly addictive!
ingredients
- 2 tablespoons canola (or other neutral) oil
- 2 teaspoons truffle oil, divided
- ½ cup popcorn kernels
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- ¼ cup plus 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese
- ½ teaspoon kosher salt, divided
directions
- Add the canola oil and ½ teaspoon truffle oil in a large heavy-bottomed pan with a tight fitting lid. Add the popcorn, set over medium-high and cover the pan. Cook the popcorn, shaking the pan often, until the popping slows to about 1 pop every 2 seconds. Total popping time will be about 8 minutes. Immediately dump the popcorn into a large mixing bowl.
- Remove any leftover kernels in the bottom of the pan. Add the butter to the pan along with the remaining 1½ teaspoons truffle oil over very low heat. Swirl the pan until the butter is melted, then remove from heat. Pour half of the butter over the popcorn along with ¼ cup Parmesan cheese and ¼ teaspoon of salt. Toss the popcorn to combine. Transfer to a serving bowl if desired.
- Pour the remaining butter, tablespoon of Parmesan cheese and salt over the top of the popcorn and serve at once.
notes
Freshly grated Parmesan cheese will always give you the most flavor.
A little bit of truffle oil goes a long way in but you can add more to your liking. In addition, you can also finish with truffle salt for a more prominent flavor.
You can find truffle oil at most grocery stores. Truffle oil is also delicious drizzled on pizzas and flatbreads and in mashed potatoes.
