Who founded Crate & Barrel?

Crate&Barrel was founded by Gordon and Carole Segal in 1962. The newlyweds had just discovered simple white European dinnerware on their honeymoon and decided their hometown friends needed it, too. They opened their first location in Chicago in 1962. Sixty years (and hundreds of home stores) later, our mission remains the same: to bring beautiful design and great value into the homes of our friends and family.

Although Crate & Barrel no longer has a store in the Quebec province, customers can still order online and get their purchases delivered to their door or pick up select qualifying purchases from the Montreal warehouse by appointment only. Today there are 5 Crate & Barrel Canada stores throughout Alberta, British Columbia and Ontario.
