The Story

Dramatic sweep of European white oak pales in modern shades of grey. Subtle tones are achieved by "fuming," a technique which reacts with the wood's natural tannins to alter the color without stain. Undulating angled edges sanded smooth follow the tree's natural profile, exposing natural wood tones. Base features two clean-cut wood planks at each end, separated by a ½" channel of interest.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great table We bought the 77in Dakota table not long after it came out, so it's been a few years now. I put 2 layers of liquid beeswax on it shortly after we got it. I probably put too much, because you can see brush strokes in a couple of places if you look really, really close. I planned on applying some heat to remove the excess wax but never got around to do it, as it doesn't bother me at all. We avoid putting dishes directly on wood and use small table cloth at the end where we eat every day, and a cork plate for hot dishes. When we have company I often use full table cloth and a protective mat under it.The table still looks the same as when we go it. I do not find it high maintenance at all.We don't have kids though, and we don't entertain as much as many other people, so this probably helps.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice but high maintenance We have the 77" table and 71" bench for more than a month.Pros: Good looking, uniqueness, spacious to seat 8 personCons: VERY HIGH Maintenance1. Wax or no waxCaring instruction suggested polishing the table with beewax before actual use, so we worked hard for an hour immediately after the delivery crew left our home. A little bit disappointed with the result because it changed the color of the whole set of furniture slightly (from grey tone to a little bit of yellow beewax tone), but what done is done, still love the overall look of this table.2. Heavy-duty placemat is a MUST!Permanent bowl mark after the first meal. We understand this is a high maintenance dining table, but we underestimated how vulnerable it is! Cotton placemat is not enough for warm dishes. Beware.3. Quality issues. There are three metal plate underneath the table top to bond and support the table, the middle one is rusted. There also some strange markings on the surface, the shape is quite similar to the metal plate, cannot remove completely no matter how hard I tried to polish it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great table Love the table. The only drawback has been the finish. It comes without any finish. I waxed it as suggested, hasn't shined up as much as I had hoped, waxed it a second time, still needs another couple coats of wax. Labor intense. The table is beautiful!!!!! It is lovely.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dakota Table We purchased the 99" table a little over a year ago. Given it's length we can do our dining at one end of the table and leave out a project at the other. The wood has not warped due to the metal plates on the underside of the table. It's easy to fit 10 people and have even squeezed in 12 - the legs are easy to work around. You do need to wax it every 6 months if you use it often - otherwise the oils from food will absorb into the wood.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful table, great proportions! This is a dream of a dining room table. Beautiful unusual color, extremely durable yet easy to move around the room with one person on each end, super durable, fits a lot of people. The natural edge is a unique touch that lends this table an artistic, rustic look yet it is still able to be dressed up as much as you'd like. Maintains its look with beeswax. This is our table for life--a great investment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this table! Love the look and feel of this table. The Natural wood grain and flowing edges really make it stand out. Top-quality craftmanship. I get nothing but compliments on this table. Timeless and organic. I have paired it with white, light mid-century modern chairs going down the sides and painted two older chairs green for each of the ends and it looks FANTASTIC.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Still love it! Updated picture Updated review: I bought this about 6 months ago and love it even more. Just spent yesterday working from home in my dining room and it made me happy! Also notice the libation cart from C&b in the corner!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent table for the dining room At first we were scared because of the price and the maintenance. However, after we got it we are truly happy with it. Definitely worth it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Table Bought this for our Christmas dinner party and couldn't be more pleased. We treated it with beeswax as recommended- it was easy and worked great. We have young children and the beeswax really holds up and protects the table and benches. Crate & Barrels customer service department is pleasant and helpful- they worked hard to get it to TN in time and succeeded. We did notice a small crack forming at a glued joint on the top and sent customer service photos and they are sending a replace table. This table is beautiful and built to last. We couldn't be happier about purchasing this table.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful table, tough to care for I bought this table a month ago. I love it, its beautiful! I had people over for dinner and covered it with a table cloth and it still got rings from the glasses on it, also from hot plates. The bees wax got most of it out but now I am scared to eat on the table. I am purchasing a table pad for when I have people over.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it Goes really well with my purplish-grey walls and the sand linen French chairs! My ecclectic look all came together! Can't wait to have people over to use it! I'd have to say the table looks much better at home than it did in the manhattan showroom- I didn't like it the first time I saw it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it, need a sideboard! We saw this in a showroom late last year and fell in love with it immediately. It is gorgeous - we got the 99" table, and it stands in our dining room as a work of art. It's very substantial - no worries about it standing up to rough and tumble kids and pets.We want to get the Big Sur sideboard to go with it, but the finishes just do not fit well together, so we're still looking. Hint, hint!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Table This table is beautiful! It is easy to keep clean, a few wine spots and water marks have been removed with gentle cleaning, I do wax it periodically.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Universally admired table everyone goes ga-ga-ga over this dramatic table.we didnt plan to, but got up a glass table top. ours gets hard use every day from family dinners, art table, to game table.we paid $370 for a glass table top cut with undulating lines to match the table's edges. the raw look of the wood w/o the glass looks slightly better and more natural, but the glass really looks fine too. the glass lets the wood grain come through very nicely and we dont have to fuss over what the kids are doing on it nor putting decorative items such as flowers or plants on the table.
