Aesome Product
I purchased this wok set primarily because it cost much less than many other woks I have seen. I followed the seasoning directions carefully and then used it the next day! It works great! My stirfry dinner was delicious and the wok cleaned well. I am very satisfied with this wok. JUST MAKE SURE you follow the directions carefully for preparing and seasoning the wok, so it will do a good job in cooking!

Great Wok, Learn First!
This is a great carbon steel wok. Well made, very nice bamboo handles, nice lid, good tools with it. But buyers....please learn about carbon steel woks before you buy! This is not stainless, it is not non-stick. It requires a very specific care to get the full benefit of this type of wok!!! It needs to be carefully cleaned to remove the shipping protection both inside and out, then seasoned well in a very specific way, and when well seasoned YES, it is supposed to discolor and hopefully get quite black! That what you WANT it to do because that lovely, dark, seasoned surface becomes as non-stick as teflon, you then need very little oil in cooking, and this is a prized surface for use in Asian cooking. It will rust if not treated carefully, so learn to care for it properly. All the negative reviews that mentioned rusting are from people who didn't know how to use and care for these carbon steel type woks. Google how to season a wok, get a good stir fry cookbook. If this all seems too hard for you, then get a stainless or non-stick type wok, although your food won't taste as good. However, if you really want to get into true stir fry cooking, this is a very nice wok. I've looked at quite a few and this was the nicest I could find.

Replacing old one, these are great!!!
I had my original Wok Set for about 15 years.
I had it perfectly seasoned, I never used harsh cleaning sponges or fluids.
So, my beloved wok was non-stick, adapted the old fasioned way.
I made a dreadful choice of letting my tennant borrow it one night.
The next day he gave back my wok, scrubbed down completely! I had given him strickt instructions on how to "not clean it".
Now, I get to start over with a new pan, same as my old one.
I was going to give the rusty one to my tennant, but hubby tossed it before I could reap my rage!
The only reason that I am giving my beloved wok a 4 star rating is because it cannot recover from a scouring. It simply turned into rust.
My advice, as it was given to me; never use soap when cleaning the wok, if you do, use a soft sponge.
Never clean it down to brilliant, new condition.!!!!!!
AND----- NEVER LEND IT TO YOUR TENNANT!!!

Rust Rust Rust
Got this as a wedding present and was super excited! I followed the instructions for removing the protective layer, or at least I attempted to, but the first time I used it it rusted completely! I know i coated that thing at least 4 times with oil so I don't know if it is user error or a quality thing. I am used to dealing with cast iron which requires similar treatment so I am inclined to believe it is the wok that is the problem. Overall very disappointed.

Disappointed
We got this wok as a wedding gift from our registry because we love stir frying. What a mistake! It rusted the first time we used it and it was unusable after that. Definitely would recommend purchasing this one.

Great Wok
I love this wok, great size and comes with tools which is nice. Only slight problem is clean up and prepping the wok before you cook is a bit annoying but it does tell you exactly how to do it and i'm sure that's how you preserve it.

great wok!
We received this wok as a wedding gift and we love it!! The directions told you everything you needed to know about removing the coating and seasoning the wok correctly. It has turned out many great meals for us! We did experience the darkening of the wok, but I expect that, as we use it often. I agree and think this is a great beginner wok - great set for a great price!!

Good Classic, good price
I've had mine a couple of months. It's developing a good dark seasoning, so very little sticks other than egg. Rust, not a bit, but I treat mine like a cast iron skillet. Cleaned while hot with running water (no soap), a stiff brush, and wiped dry with a paper towel. No fuss, no muss. No wonder the Chinese have used them for hundreds of years.

Don't bother
We got this as a wedding gift. It's a piece of junk. It comes with a protective coating that turned black when we tried to remove it, and then the thing rusted the first time we washed it. I'll be taking this one back first chance I get.

Wok-tastic!
My search for a wok without any dangerous non-stick coatings has ended, thanks to C&B. I followed all the instructions on removing the protective coating and seasoning the pan; neither were difficult. It heated up impressively and has performed exactly as I expected. Perhaps the problems that others are having is due to insufficient heat and not allowing the proteins in meat to coagulate before attempting to move food around in the pan. This little scientific tip separates the professionals from the timid. My wok will be used in my cooking classes, and I'll definitely recommend this wok to students. Thanks, Crate and Barrel!

Great Beginner set
This was my first Wok purchase. I a not sure what kind of care goes into a wok in regards to oiling properly and preventing rusting but I know that I have already experienced the rust.
The instructions specifically say that any wok that is seasoned (used a lot) will turn darker and it also mentions what will happen should it be set in water for too long.
I like the price for such a nice set, Most woks are very pricey. I would call this a beginner set, it really does take some trial and error to learn how to use this properly. All part of the fun!

Rusts Quickly
This is actually my second attempt at this wok. Both times I prepped and seasoned the wok exactly to the instructions, and the first wok's bottom turned black during the seasoning. I sent that wok back and got a new one. The new one was seasoned fine (still discolored, but less so), but rusted after one use. I have removed the rust and carefully dried the wok, so aesthetically it is a bit nicer (still scarred from the rust spots). This wok seems to require far too much upkeep.

Wok set
I was so excited to get this wok! I got nervous when I read the directions on how to cook on it. There are a lot of things that need to be done before you actually cook on it. The coating they talk about is not just on the inside of the wok, but the outside as well. Be ready to be confused for a while. It's a little hard to get the first coating off of the wok. It eventually DOES come off. When cooking, make sure there is a good amount of oil to prevent sticking. The wok is great otherwise and the set is perfect.

Think Twice
We received this gift for our wedding. After the first use, it started to rust!!! DO NOT let water stand on this product. Even if letting dry by itself! You will be disappointed and have another mess to clean!

Wok Set
I sent this to my neice for her upcoming wedding. She called to tell me how much she wanted this particular gift. She was truly happy with my choose from your bridal registry.

Traditional
A great affordable and traditional wok that sustains high heat, and comes with every tool you need to make a perfect stir fry!

good value
For what you pay, this is a good wok. Like any real wok or cast iron skillet, it works better the more its been seasoned and you have to be careful not to let it rust. I've used this product for years, and it's still in good condition.

Great for Couples Who Cook!
My husband and I have had a great time using our wok to create delicious stir-fries. There really isn't much clean up involved. This is a great item and I would highly recommend it!

Didn't last long
I've used this wok maybe 20 times, and it has begun to rust. I followed the care instructions carefully, smoking and oiling my wok after each use, so I'm not sure what else I could have done to prevent the rusting. It's too bad because I really liked this wok otherwise.

Worth waiting for
I've used my Wok several times. It heats evenly and cooks quickly. It is easy to handle on the cooking surface and clean up is quick and easy. The only drawback is the long handle. I have to remove it so it will fit into the cabinets.
