Otto Salt Mill is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from pretty & so easy! Never thought I'd get excited about a salt grinder, but it's so easy to turn while cooking and it looks great on my counter! Bought the pepper grinder too!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Love the look but doesn't grind an corrodes I bought these as I loved the look. The grinder for salt or pepper leaves large chunks. Very uneven grind too some small but mostly peppercorns are just cut in half. I wentered to refI'll the salt for the first time and it is corroded and falling apart. These pict8jures are after washing and scraping corrosion off.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointing I really like the look of these but they unfortunately just don't work. I've had 2 of these now and the end of the crank has broken off within a week or so of light use on both of them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Mill After Fixing Design Flaws I want to use salt in the coarseness that I choose. Due to problems with my hands, I prefer a mill with a crank. The few crank mills that I've seen, are restricted to 3 grinds, rather than infinite coarseness, so I was very glad to find this stylish salt mill. The mill is thin enough for me to firmly grasp in one hand, and the crank works very easily. Like many of the other reviewers have mentioned, I had problems adjusting the coarseness of the grind. First and foremost, it's counter-intuitive; you loosen the finial to make the grind fine, and tighten to make it coarse. However, I still had trouble grinding the salt fine enough. While looking at the mill, I could see where the salt was caught in the spring. When the mill finial is loosened, the spring is shortened, causing the mechanism to tighten. It can't do this if there is a piece of salt caught in the spring. If Wm Bonds had put a plastic sleeve around the spring, this wouldn't be a problem. The second issue is the finial. To get a fine grind, the finial has to be loosened to the point of almost falling off; this is an issue that WM. Bonds should have addressed.I gave the rating of 4, because the mill is stylish, easy to crank in both directions, and it has the capability of infinite coarse grind. I took away a star, because I had to fix the design flaws.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Maybe not necessary, but I love it anyway I have the salt and pepper mills. I think a pepper grinder is a must in my kitchen. I can't tell the difference with the salt so much. I still like having it though. The tall thin design leads me to knock them over often so I am glad the barrel is plastic instead of glass. I have not damaged either one yet, so I have to say after almost 2 years of use and knocking over they must be durable. I have had no problems with grinder function. Once or twice it jammed a little bit, so I flipped it upside down and turned the crank to fix it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Corrodes completely We've had this mill a couple of years, and even though we've used it as directed, the metal on the base and all the internal mechanisms, as well as the area between the plastic and metal have corroded badly. Now I'll just have to throw it away. I would not recommend this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Takes a bit of work to get the perfect grind Received as a gift last Christmas. Initially we had a difficult time not getting huge chunks of salt. The grind is adjustable with the top screw. Wish it came with instructions.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Salty They work as advertised, and like others am a little disappointed that they are plastic and not glass. For the price I expected more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Classy and Simple I bought this in the last couple of weeks and I love it! Plus it has a great look...the barrel (that holds the salt or pepper) is plastic which a lot of people may not like, but it makes these super light. Highly recommend@

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Broke after the first use. Honestly the salt crank broke after the first use and it was almost impossible to get to work. I would suggest not spending money on this item.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works for us... My Husband and I like chunks of pepper and salt in our food. When shopping for mainly a pepper grinder we wanted something that we could really season our food with. If you are that type, this is for you! If you aren't you might keep looking. You will have lots of salt/pepper with these grinders. It will be in decent chunks. They look great, but they wont grind fine. Its just a shame that the clockwise/counterclockwise grinding mechanism that they advertise does not actually work.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Doesn't grind very small The grinding size does not adjust well and the grinder does not grind very small. It's fine if you're using it to season food as you're cooking because the salt dissolves and gets blended into food. But if you're using it for seasoning after cooking, you end up with big chunks of pepper. I would have thought I had a defective product, but I bought the pepper mill, too and both have this problem.
